Castleford Medical Centre

Outline planning consent has been granted for this proposed new medical centre in the heart of Castleford.

The new centre includes healthcare facilities, a pharmacy and office space. The site is currently used as a surface car park to the north of Castleford’s shopping centre.

The proposed health centre will help to repair the urban fabric by reinstating the building line along Church Street and creating an important landmark at the northern entrance to the town centre.  The design also responds to the archaeological importance of the site, minimising disruption to the Roman remains by building largely upon previously excavated and recorded areas.

A central drum forms the hub of the centre, defining the heart of the building and enabling easy internal and external navigation for the public.
