Grade II Listed Georgian Townhouse, York

Calls Architecture were approached as conservation specialists, following a refused planning application by others.  The proposals to replace windows and the shopfront at this Grade II listed townhouse on Bootham in the York Central Historic Core Conservation Area have now achieved Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent.

The property is part of a Georgian pair of buildings much altered over their 250 plus year history.  The upper floors are residential apartments, and the windows are in need of repairs and replacements.  The shop front is also proposed to be altered in design, to replace a 1970’s mock period shopfront with a good, simple modern design that relates to the upper floors and the adjacent shop front.

Through a process of background research, thorough analysis and considered design we provided robust justification for enhancing the historic building frontage by replacing non-historic windows.
